Join Us as a Jr. Development Intern Associate

Build the Future of Community-Powered Food Systems!

An Exciting Opportunity for Aspiring Developers & Innovators

We are inviting passionate learners, problem-solvers, and creative thinkers to take part in a hands-on, real-world development experience as a Jr. Development Intern Associate in the Urban Food Network & Urban Farming Kit Project.

This is not just a learning opportunity – it’s a chance to build software that makes a real difference in how communities grow, share, and access fresh food. No matter your age or background, what matters most is your willingness to learn, apply, and practice your skills to create meaningful solutions.

What Is the Urban Food Network?

The Urban Food Network (UFN) is a platform designed to empower communities by connecting urban farmers, small-scale growers, and local food distribution networks. By leveraging open-source technology and AI-powered tools, we are creating solutions that strengthen food security, promote sustainability, and support local economies.

Alongside this, the Urban Farming Kit (UFK) provides essential tools and resources that help individuals and families start growing their own food – whether in a backyard, on a rooftop, or as part of a community garden.

What Does a Jr. Development Intern Associate Do?

This role is designed for anyone eager to learn and contribute, regardless of prior experience. Whether you’re just starting in coding or have some background in development, this is a chance to:

✅ Build real-world software that communities will use to organize, distribute, and grow local food networks.
✅ Develop WordPress-based plugins and AI-driven tools that support urban farming and local food systems.
✅ Gain hands-on experience in coding, problem-solving, and working on meaningful tech projects.
✅ Be mentored in software development while actively contributing to an impactful initiative.
✅ Learn by doing, applying new skills to build solutions that directly support local food security.

Why This Matters

This isn’t about theory or abstract learning – this is a chance to use technology for social good. The work done in this project will directly impact communities, helping to create food systems that are independent, sustainable, and accessible to all.

By participating, you are not just learning to code – you are helping to solve real-world problems, making fresh food more available, supporting local farmers, and reducing reliance on mass food supply chains.

Who Should Apply?

If you have:
🔹 A genuine interest in learning and applying your skills
🔹 A willingness to solve problems and experiment
🔹 A desire to work on real projects that make a difference
🔹 No fear of trial, error, and growth through experience

Then this opportunity is for you! No prior experience is required – just an eagerness to learn and contribute.

How to Get Started

Interested? Let’s connect! We’ll start with an informal meeting to discuss:

  • Your interests and skills
  • The roadmap of development
  • The first project you’ll contribute to

This is a no-pressure opportunity – you set your own pace, and we’ll guide you along the way. If you choose to take part, you’ll be part of something that blends technology, sustainability, and real-world impact.
